About British Caribbean Insurance Company Limited (BCIC)
British Caribbean Insurance Company Limited (BCIC) is a general insurance company, offering a range of insurance solutions designed to protect the valuable assets of individuals and businesses.
BCIC's history began when two law firms, Myers Fletcher & Gordon and Judah & Randall, then acting as insurance agents, merged their insurance operations to form British Caribbean Insurance Agents Limited. The Agency later formed an association with the international company, Eagle Star Insurance Company Limited, to form British Caribbean Insurance Company Limited, on October 23, 1962. The Company officially started operating in 1963.
Throughout the years, BCIC underwent a number of changes in its ownership structure and had been operating as an independent entity of the ICD Group Limited until December 31, 2010, when it merged with the Victoria Mutual Insurance Company (VMIC), a well established insurance company that had developed in 1990, out of the Victoria Mutual Building Society. This merger saw the companies integrating under the BCIC name, with 68.5% ownership being maintained by the ICD Group Limited and 31.5% by the Victoria Mutual Building Society.
BCIC's Head Office is located at 36 Duke Street, Kingston, and it operates five (5) branches located in Kingston (Cross Roads), Portmore, Montego Bay, Mandeville and Ocho Rios. The Company also enjoys an excellent relationship with broker, agents and sales representatives island wide.
BCIC is licensed, in accordance with The Insurance Act 2001, to write all classes of General Insurance business and offers cover in the following areas:

BCIC prides itself in being customer focused and accordingly, in January 2002, introduced "ASSIST", a motor accident scene response service extended to all its private car policyholders. BCIC is the first Insurance Company to offer such a service in Jamaica and, in 2008, the "ASSIST" service was further enhanced to include emergency roadside breakdown assistance.
BCIC's commitment to offering quality customer service was further solidified in 2009 when the Company ensured that that all members of staff were trained and certified by the Jamaica Customer Service Association (JaCSA) and Professional Development Association and incorporated this into their strategic plan as an ongoing policy.
